booo...

My priest actually read the Rite of Marriage today and discovered that there is supposed to be a Gloria for wedding Masses. (I knew this, but was hoping he wouldn't find out.)
Blah.
Let the awkwardness commence...

Wasn't that because of the Feast Day, not a rubric?

Interesting. I hadn't thought of that. But the way he said it, if I remember correctly, "I was reading the Rite of Marriage..." makes me think that he just might have read the new addition? (Or is that just found in the GIRM? Now I'm really confused...)

I'm trying to avoid doing weddings, period, from now on! But, I'm unaware that the Gloria is SOP at Eucharistic Nuptials. Kyrie, yes, Gloria, no.

In the new translation of the Roman Missal, the Penitential Act and Kyrie are OMITTED and the Gloria is sung.
